Fresh target date for Rovuma LNG go-ahead

EXXONMOBIL is looking to sanction in 2021 its stalled $25 billion Rovuma liquefied natural gas project in Mozambique although there are concerns this challenging development at Afungi in Cabo Delgado province could be further delayed due to market conditions. A source familiar with ExxonMobil's thinking said: "What we are told is that the final investment decision will not be made in 2020. It is our understanding that ExxonMobil is pursuing making (a final investment decision) sometime in 2021." Another source close to the supermajor said it is "correct" that next year is the fresh date to move head with the project.
