Beetaloo shale well gives Origin Energy headache

ORIGIN Energy has run into difficulties while drilling the horizontal section of the Kyalla 117 N2-1H appraisal well in the Northern Territory's onshore Beetaloo basin in Australia. Joint venture partner Falcon Oil & Gas this week revealed that, after reaching a horizontal length of 700 metres, operational challenges were experienced in maintaining adequate clean hole conditions and stability over portions of the horizontal section.
