Natural gas projects lift Kinder Morgan results

US midstream giant Kinder Morgan reported higher profits in the fourth quarter of 2019 partly due to two closely watched natural gas projects being placed online in the second half of the year. The company reported net income of $610 million, or 27 cents per share, compared to $483 million, or 21 cents per share, in the same period a year ago. The lift followed the start-up in September of the 2 billion cubic feet per day Gulf Coast Express pipeline, which carries stranded natural gas from the prolific Per-mian basin to markets on the Texas coast.
