SBM gets ExxonMobil nod for Payara floater

SBM Offshore has been given a formal award from US supermajor ExxonMobil that will allow it to start work on a third floating production, storage and offloading vessel to be installed on the prolific Stabroek block off Guyana. The Dutch floater specialist confirmed the award is being made for a unit to be built under its Fast4Ward construction concept, using a newbuild multi-purpose hull. SBM added that the latest contract, which will lead to the floater being used to develop resources in the Payara area, would already initiate "a limited release of funds to begin FEED activities and secure a Fast4Ward hull."
