Kvaerner to de-install Deep Panuke platform

NORWAY'S Kvaerner is set to land a key contract to de-install the Deep Panuke production platform off Nova Scotia, Canada. The company has been selected for this role by SBM Offshore, which owns the jack-up-based production facility and is handling the platform's entire decommissioning process for field operator Encana. After a six-month design competition, Kvaerner fought off rival bids from half a dozen other players to land an engineering, procurement, construction, de-installation and transport contract. Marine operations and decommissioning work are strategic growth areas for Kvaerner.
