Subcell Balance Methods with Linear Discontinuous Expansion for S_ N Transport Calculation on Tetrahedral Meshes

There has been much effort to develop the numerical methods for solving the S_N transport equations in unstructured geometry [1,2,3,4,5]. The discontinuous finite element method (DFEM) [1] is one of the most popular methods. Also, the sub-cell balance methods [3,6,7,8] have been developed to solve the S_N transport equation with meshes of polygons in two-dimensional geometry. This paper presents new sub-cell balance methods for unstructured geometrical problems comprised of tetrahedral meshes. This method uses the sub-cell balance equations to obtain the closing equations with the linear discontinuous expansion of the flux (LDEM-SCB).
