摘要

A power plant's information system is the basis for operators to perform their role. Inadequate information system design can cause severe accidents, challenging systems' safety, as was found in the Three Mile Island (TMI) accident. Understanding a plant's status and performing the correct actions during emergency situations is very important in the successful operation of a Nuclear Power plant (NPP). When an emergency situation occurs, many alarms are triggered and multiple automated emergency mitigation functions are ex ecuted simultaneously. This makes it difficult for the operators to detect and correctly decide which action to perform. The level of difficulty associated with this decision-making process depends on the design of the human system interface (HSI) in the control room.
