Truncated basis sets can be successfully used within the DGM method as long as physics information is build into the basis functions. All KLT bases used outperformed the standard DLP basis, and the success of the rather simple "Combined" snapshot model suggests that a significant portion of the spectral behavior of an application model may be extracted from smaller models that represent parts of the application. Selection of these smaller models has been based primarily on intuition for the present (and past related) work. Future work will include extensions to eigenvalue problems and application of the methods described to larger, more difficult models, for which optimization of the fine-to-coarse mapping will be essential to assign DoF appropriately and selection of snapshot models may require more robust methods.
