Do the Transport Innovation Fund awards point the way forward?

Analysis of the recently announced first round of pump-priming allocations from the UK Department for Transport (DfT)'s £2.5bn Transport Innovation Fund (TIF) offers some valuable insights into the likely future development of road user charging (RUC) in Britain. Seven areas of England (out of 33 which applied) are now sharing £7 million of initial development money to help them explore what the Government hopes will prove to be a range of innovative local approaches to the problem of congestion.
