The European Commission has published the third call for proposals for the creation and update of freight transport services under the second Marco Polo programme. Companies across Europe and beyond are invited to submit proposals. Successful projects should involve fighting congestion on European roads and improving the environmental performance of the freight transport system, two of the main objectives of EU transport policy.rnThe call is open to applications for five types of actions: 1 Modal shift actions which will shift freight from the road to short sea shipping, rail, inland waterways or a combination of modes.
