The electric car market has been given a boost with a mandate from the European Commission to the European standards organisations to agree a standard that will ensure that electric vehicle chargers are safe andrninteroperable. This is essential if, as electric car usage grows, consumers across Europe are to be able to charge their vehicles easily and are able to use the same charger for different makes of vehicles. The standard will ensure the interoperability and connectivity between the electricity supply point and the charger of electric vehicles and guarantee the safety of the electric vehicle batteries and their electromagnetic compatibility.
