A welcome reduction in road deaths has been recorded by the International Transport Forum (ITF) which has announced that in 2008 fewer than 150,000 people were killed in road accidents in the 52 ITF members countries, excluding India. According to the ITF, an intergovernmental organisation linked to the OECD, road fatalities recorded their biggest decrease since 1990 with a drop of 8.9% compared to 2007.
