Impact Analysis of Public Transport Fare Adjustment

Based on the macro variation analysis of passenger flow a questionnaire survey on travel choice of public transport was conducted, combined with the trip tracking of public transport travelers based on information association of questionnaire and IC card data, deeply analyzing the impact of public transport fare adjustment on travelers behavior in Beijing. Binary logistic regression analysis based on questionnaire data found there is a significant relativity between occupation, income, private cars, trip purpose and travel behavior variation after fare adjustment. Then using multi-mode public transit IC card data of sample travelers and extracting public transport individual trip chain, the variation of trip structure was quantitatively analyzed. Results indicated that the influence of fare adjustment on trip structure for non-commuters was greater than that for commuters, and the influence was manifested as a trigger for those short distant rail transit travelers whose trip chain structure was relatively simple leading them to transfer to ground bus. Research results provides scientific foundation and decision support for public transport policy implementation impact assessment, transit network optimization and operation management, which is of great significance for improving the level of service for public transport.
