The A229 in Kent forms a strategic link between the M2 and M20 and is used by commuters to access Maidstone, placing considerable pressure on the road. As Andrew Westwood explains, the county council realises that capacity improvements will support growth, and recognises the role technology can play in maximising the capacity and with smoothing flow, reducing crashes and enabling drivers to make decisions.
