Tokyo Motor Show 2005: Comfortable Interior Space of the Fine-X Concept Vehicle - Smooth and Speedy Operation of Welcome Seat

The Fine-X concept vehicle exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2005 featured various technologies based on Toyota's Zeronize and Maximize visions in an attempt to change the image of future compact 2-box vehicles. An example of an item based on the Maximize vision is the so-called "welcome seat" that was designed with general vehicle users in mind. During the development of the welcome seat, studies were performed to make operation of the seat effortless and "smart" (defined here as smooth and speedy). Analysis of the movements of professional dancers and sensory tests using trial users indicated that a smart operation is one that involves as few high frequency speed changes as possible.
