As a resident in Greenwich Millennium Village and the local MR I read Glyn Robbins' article in the February 2014 issue of Town & Country Planning ('Mixed use - mixed motives') with incredulity. Mr Robbins' largely data-free assertions clearly reflect the prejudices with which he has approached the subject rather than reality. I had to laugh at his claim about 'a striking lack of pedestrian activity', given the amount of time I have had to spend in recent months trying to persuade Transport for London to increase its capacity at GMV because of the large number of pedestrians from all over the Village having to wait to get on the buses during the morning rush hour. I also recalled the intensive use of the park during last summer's sunny months, and the regular stream of families throughout the year crossing the bridge over the lake en route to see the wildlife in the ecology park. Mr Robbins' doctoral research project appears to have missed all these indicators of a successful community.
