CRANE BREEDING IN BANNU, NORTH WEST FRONTIER PROVINCE, PAKISTAN

摘要

Bannu is a beautiful agricultural area in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province (NWFP). There are many undiscovered wetlands in Bannu which are not on the record because most of them are situated in the tribal areas adjoining with Afghanistan's Paktia Province. Of the 15 existing species of cranes, two species, i.e. Common crane (Grits grus lilfordii) and Demoiselle crane (Anthropoides virgo) visit Pakistan. The author conducted a survey of crane hunters in Bannu during September-October 1995, March 1996 and 2001-2003 to study the trapping and breeding of these cranes.
