Vietnam's timber sector exports are expected to face major challenges in fulfilling the requirements of the Timber Legality Assurance System (TLAS), which is being developed as part of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) which Vietnam is currently negotiating with the EU. While Vietnam and the EU are due to finalize negotiations and sign the VPA at the end of the year/beginning of 2015, many timber processing enterprises remain unaware of FLEGT-VPA and the ways it will affect their business operations.
