COMPONENTS, GROUND TEMPERATURE AND STATUS OF INCUBATION MOUNDS OF MEGAPODE FREYCINET GAIMARD IN RUMBERPON ISLAND, INDONESIA

The materials composing the meagpode's mounds are varied in order to protect the eggs and at the same time provide an alternative source of environmental heat. The results of the measurements show that the size of the mounds are placed between the ranges of other megapode mound sizes. Ground temperature and humidity ranged between 32°-36℃; they are more or less similar to other megapode nesting ground conditions. The nesting grounds are threatened by human activities and animals.
