Integrating software with design packages

FBEAM is an advanced analysis and design tool (provided free of charge) for the design of Fabsec beams fabricated from plate. The beams can be plain or have web openings (for the passage of services within the web depth), these openings may be cellular or bespoke. Also, the beams can be designed in the normal or fire condition for up to 2h fire resistance. When Fabsec started to look at the list of desired features users most wanted to see introduced into its next generation FBEAM software, the most popular request was the ability to link to proprietary 3D and frame analysis software, so that beam data did not have to be manually transferred on a beam by beam basis. The primary demand was for the facility to transfer beam design details to and from software packages such as RAM Structural System and CSC Fastrak.
