Modelling New York's Freedom Tower

The Freedom Tower is the first commercial building to rise on the 16 acre site of the World Trade Center towers in New York which were destroyed by terrorist in the 9/11 attacks. The project has been a controversial one, with many different proposals and changes. The Freedom Tower is the latest offering and looks likely to go ahead, designed both as a memorial to the past and a future icon. Building information modelling has proved crucial to teamwork on the complex project and meeting tight targets. Architect Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) has standardised on Autodesk Revit software, Autodesk's Building Information Modelling (BIM) platform, for the tower. To enable the design team to realise their ideas faster, SOM has selected Autodesk® Revit® Building as the official design and documentation solution for the project.
