Glass structures

摘要

Peter Harris reports on the Evening Meeting of 18 January on 'Glass structures' by Tim Macfarlane. The paper was published in the 9 January 2007 issue of The Structural Engineer. Despite atrocious weather resulting in train cancellations there was an excellent turnout at HQ of 150 people to hear the lecture. There was no doubting his love of the subject as he entertained his attentive audience with the story of the development of the use of glass as a structural material in the construction of sophisticated structures, interlaced with anecdotes along the way.
