When assessing the risk, a company will need to consider all the items discussed in this article, plus others particular to the company and the commission. The risk profile and the level of mitigation applied will then feed into an assessment of whether the company is able to proceed with the commission, whether it needs to employ additional measures to mitigate the risks, and whether these mitigations will have a cost implication that will need to be built into any tender pricing. In every case, however, a clear understanding of the risks associated with each commission should be in place before a decision to proceed is made.
