The Viewpoint from the Past Presidents is challenging (The Structural Engineer, January 2019, pp. 40-41). There is much reference to Chris Wise, so let's start there. I have huge respect for Chris. He clearly exhibits all the traits that are being set out as necessary. Where did they come from, though, and what do they depend on? Many of his structures exhibit his facility with flow of force. That is (I understand) partly amplified by a similar facility with a range of software and, at the base of it all, sketching.
