A week's Rover ticket is wonderful value…it's the KIT that's the problem. Every gram counts - unnecessary weight can spoil the whole week and cause the loss of tight train connections. There is plenty of advice on world travel - but I've never encountered written advice on using (say) a 'Freedom of Wales' ticket! Here are my dozen top items, evolved over many years of rail-riding.
