New Street £598m revamp go-ahead

Birmingham New Street is to get a £598m revamp after Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly announced in February that almost £400million of Government money is to be poured into the project. Network Rail and Birmingham City Council plan to start work on the project in 2009 and the first phase should be finished within two years.
