FGW in 'last chance saloon' as DfT gets tough

First Great Western is to invest a further £29million in its troubled franchise after being hit with a 'remedial plan notice' by the Department for Transport. The notice has been issued because of "unacceptably high levels of train cancellations" - and the DfT has also served the beleaguered train operator with a 'breach notice' for "misreporting its cancellations".
