On June 2, the Talyllyn Railway re-enacted two specially decorated trains it ran to celebrate Coronation Day on June 2,1953. They were worked by the same locomotive - Kerr Stuart 0-4-2ST No. 4 Edward Thomas carrying the same headboard (which was the first to be used on a British railway written entirely in Welsh) and original carriages, as the 1953 trains. The fireman and guard of the original train, Gareth Jones (who was then still at school) and David Woodhouse respectively, were both present.
