Sir William McAlpine's loco celebrates 100th birthday

Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0ST Sir Robert McAlpine& Sons No. 31 (1026/1913) was the centrepiece of a celebration of all forms of transport at Sir William McAlpine's estate, near Henley-on-Thames, over May 18-19. Bicycles, traction engines, cars, boats and aircraft flying overhead featured in the Fawley Hill Steam and Vintage Weekend, while Sir William's locomotive celebrated its 100th birthday in action on the private standard gauge line, which includes a ferocious 1-in-14 gradient (believed to be 1 -in-13 at one point) up to the station.
