Chiltern tours raise thousands of pounds for children's charities

The Branch Line Society chartered a Chiltern Railways Class 168 for its 'Chiltern Tracker'tour on May 26. It covered many non-passenger routes, including travelling to within sight of the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway -separated by just 20 yards from the main line at Thame Junction. Chiltern did not charge for the DMU and the day raised £10,000 for the Railway Children charity, the international organisation supporting vulnerable children who live on the world's streets. It is hoped that another Branch Line Society charter will expand the non-passenger mileage in the Princes Risborough area in October to traverse sections of track not possible to cover in May - details will be covered in this column.
