LMS 3F buried at Garsdale - it looks as though it could still be there

In the July issue, Alan Lucraft raises the question of whether a Midland Railway 3F is buried at Garsdale. There is a book of Settle & Carlisle memories by former railwayman Dick Fawcett, entitled Ganger, Guard and Signalman, published in 1981. In this, Mr Fawcett recounts how he was told by a couple of senior local railwaymen early in his career that, in the LMS era of the early 1900s, an engine from Carlisle Durran Hill shed went through stop blocks at Hawes Junction & Garsdale and toppled down the bank.
