Today, there is a variety of specialised container flats in use - Megafrets, Shortliners, SuperLow 45s and 'pocket' wagons. However, the original low-platform bogie flat was the Freightliner FLA'Lowliner'. This design had its origins in the Prologie prototype PFA flat No. PR 95300, introduced in 1985 by a partnership of Procor, British Rail and West German firm Waggonfabrik Talbot. It was intended as a dual-purpose piggyback and container flat. Small-wheeled inside frame bogies were used allowing the carriage of road trailers and hi-cube containers.
