Mayor 'holds off' over threat to end West Midlands Trains franchise after improvement

WEST Midlands Mayor Andy Street has decided not to ask the Department for Transport to remove the Abellio West Midlands Trains (WMT) franchise after seeing a significant uplift in the service during January. The mayor had made the threat following months of poor performance by the company. Performance on WMT services fell following the introduction of a new timetable in May 2019, which particularly impacted on substantially altered London Northwestern- (LNW) branded services.
