New bow for DDG-51 tested

Researchers at the Naval Surface Warfare Centre Carderock Division (NSWCCD) recently completed hydrodynamic testing to optimise the size and shape of bow bulbs on the US Navy's DDG 51 Arleigh Burke class destroyers. Working with the Programme Executive Office (PEO) Ships and the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Fleet Readiness Research and Development Programme, NSWCCD conducted the testing as part of US Navy initiatives to reduce fuel consumption.
