Jurong wins custom jack-up order

Jurong Shipyard has been awarded a contract to build a customised jack-up rig for Hercules North Sea Limited, which intends to charter the rig out to Maersk Oil & Gas for North Sea operations. To be modelled on Friede & Goldman's JU 2000E jack-up design, the rig will be capable of operating in depths of 122m and will be able to drill down to 9,144m. The unit's drilling capacity is expected to exceed 900tonnes, while it will also feature a mud capacity of 6,000 barrels and accommodation for up to 150 persons. Delivery is scheduled for Q2 2016.
