I read your article in The Log spring 2014 edition with interest. You mentioned Equitable Life in passing and some BALPA members may think this scandal has been resolved. It hasn't! The fight for FULL (100%) compensation in accordance with the Parliamentary Ombudsman's report goes on. Far from being taken under the wing of the PPF, that mendacious charlatan Gordon Brown kicked the Equitable Life scandal into the long grass for ten long years, during which time over 50,000 policyholders have conveniently died! Whilst as a condition of 'so-called' rescue, guaranteed annuity rate policyholders were forced to give up their guaranteed annuities under duress. Since 2010 we have been offered just 22% of our 'assumed losses' whilst Northern Rock and Icelandic Bank depositers have been fully compensated and MPs continue to massage their expenses and their egos!
