You've got an idea. It's going to make you rich. You jump out of bed, write it down on the back of an envelope and go back to sleep. Or maybe you don't even write it down — it'll keep till morning. But with daylight comes reality —too much hassle, it won't work, probably been thought of before. Drop it. A familiar scenario? All too familiar. And it's one of the reasons why Britain lags behind the rest of the developed world when it comes to exploiting good ideas.
