There is a lot to be said for selling factories to sub-contractors, as Marconi has done. You raise cash and impress the markets at a stroke. Outsourcing is in vogue, and with good reason. And if that helps to reinforce your company's image as a technology- driven outfit (rather than a manufacturing firm with dozens of factories, with all the cyclical and currency risk that entails) then so much the better.
