The preliminary design of an unmanned reconnaissance and combat helicopter has been unveiled by Bell Helicopter. The design is the Lockheed Martin-led bid for the Unmanned Combat Armed Rotorcraft (UCAR) project, a multi-million dollar, two-year DARPA programme. Northrop Grumman is also proposing a design for the programme and the winning bid is due to be announced by the end of the month, subject to US Army funding.
