Ametek, the US-based manufacturer of electric motors and electronic instruments, recently acquired UK-based Muirhead Aerospace - a manufacturer of motion technology products and a provider of avionics repair and overhaul services for the aerospace and defence markets. The company is a subsidiary of Esterline Technologies Corporation and has estimated 2008 sales of £33m. '[The acquisition] expands our penetration in motion control products for aerospace and defence, including actuators and other specialised linear motors,' said Frank S Hermance, AMETEK chairman and chief executive.
