A new solar-powered device for measuring blood pressure could help prevent the growth of heart disease in low-income countries.The device, which has a 94 per cent accuracy rate compared to stan-dard blood-pressure testing methods, is currently being field tested in Uganda and Zambia, Africa. Hypertension is rising in low-income countries, said Prof Eoin O'Brien of University College Dublin, and causes more deaths from strokes and heart attacks than any health problem.
