Smart car panels that spring back to shape after being dented or stiffen up when an impact is imminent could be possible with a new plastic and metal hybrid material.rnEngineers led by Richard Dash-wood and Gordon Smith at Warwick University are currently developing methods for producing panels made of such hybrid materials , using standard polymer injec-tion-moulding technology.
