VauxhaU has confirmed plans to build the new Astra in the UK, in the latest in a series of foreign investments in the country's automotive industry.The move by the General Motors-owned firm has ended speculation about the future of the Ellesmere Port plant in Cheshire but is also being viewed as part of a revival in the car manufacturing sector - which has seen a 40 per cent increase in output since 2009.
