Molson Coors buys StarBevfor US$3.5bn

US brewer Molson Coors has announced it will buy Staro-pramen brewer StarBev, including its nine breweries in central and eastern Europe, for US$3.5 billion. The deal for StarBev, which also brews Bergenbier, Ozusko and Borsodi beers and is owned by private equity firm CVC Capital Partners, will help Molson Coors expand the geographical reach of its brands, such as Carling.
