Something Old, Something New: Introduction to the 2007 Survey of the Law of Cyberspace

In this, the eleventh Survey of the Law of Cyberspace, authors from the Cyberspace Law Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Business Law have contributed articles explaining recent developments in the law of cyberspace. Cyberspace law is not easily defined; the area includes many legal disciplines affected by the Internet and digital technologies. Some disciplines within the realm of cyberspace law, such as contracts, are familiar to every lawyer, regardless of when she attended law school; others, such as payments and intellectual property, are familiar to fewer lawyers, but are not new legal disciplines. Still other areas of law, such as that developing to regulate the use of spyware, might be described as truly new and born in the Internet era. This year's Survey includes articles in these familiar and new areas.
