Bicentennial Gold 88 Endowment

In response to at least two to three applicationsfrom universities each year this Endowment uses a significant part of its allocation to support technical visits and field excursions by student groups. This is seen as an efficient and effective use of funds, as well as facilitating a vitally important aspect of a student's professional education and an introduction: to the 'teal' world that is often overlooked by funding bodies. One of the three proposals supported by this Endowment in 1995 was an initiative by the Geology Honours class at the University of Adelaide. That this may have been an 'eye-opener' experience for many of the students is suggested by the following account compiled by two of the participants.
