Loft crossed with terrace creates spacious luxury

'Loft style meets Knightsbridge' is how architect Graham Harris of Spence Harris Hogan describes the redevelopment of three terraced houses in a quiet residential street in Knightsbridge, London. Numbers 14, 16 and 18 Yeoman's Row, originally coach houses, were remodelled by Charles Bassington as artisan's studios at the turn of the century. Wells Coates designed a flat for himself at No 18 in the 1930s, and more recently all three buildings were used as architects' offices. They were bought by a private developer in 1994 who commissioned SHH to convert them into speculative houses.
