Isi Metzstein's critique of Reiach and Hall's new Beatson Institute Cancer Research Facility (AJ 17.07.08) is a beautifully wrought piece of architectural analysis. My only complaint is that the preamble to one of the finest pieces of architectural writing I have read in a very long time describes Metzstein as 'one of Scotland's greatest living architects'. As the article and Metzstein's oeuvre confirm, Metzstein, one of the co-recipients of the RIAS' inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award earlier this year, merits recognition of his greatness across a significantly broader geography.
