Rush to buy up incandescent lamps

The ban on the production of incandescent lamps for domestic use from 1 September has led to panic buying by consumers reluctant to adapt to more energy-efficient lighting solutions. Incandescent lamps waste as much as 90 per cent of their energy as heat and the ban will bring the UK in line with a European Union directive aimed at saving energy.
