Rogers Stirk Harbour's Y:Cube wins planning

Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners has won planning for a 36-unit modular housing scheme for the YMCA in Mitcham, south-west London. Dubbed 'Y:Cube', the 26m~2 affordable units are arranged around a central courtyard, and each contains a bathroom, bedroom and open-plan living space. They are expected to cost less than £50,000 each to construct. The £1.6 million scheme is built on three levels accessed from raised walkways.
